He may cook meth on Breaking Bad, but Emmy winner Aaron Paul cooked up a far more legal, more romantic plan over New Year's:
He proposed to girlfriend Lauren Parsekian - and she accepted!
"I'm so happy and excited and honored to share my life with the most amazing man on the planet," the 24-year old co-CEO of Finding Kind Productions wrote on Facebook today, flashing her engagement ring for all to see.
Parsekian's mom even chimed in on the social networking site, writing of the news:
"Dearest Lauren, we love you so much and couldn't be more thrilled that you have found your perfect soul mate. We love Aaron and his family, and feel blessed that this will be a perfect union. Just being around the two of you in love is an inspiration to us all. We look forward to the future and all the happiness it will bring."

Tourists ride in horse carriages Nov. 12, 2011, in the Old Square in Krakow, Poland. If you're planning a trip to Europe this year, Krakow is one of the best bargains.
By Tanya Mohn, msnbc.com contributor
Budget travelers of a certain age may remember guide books of some years ago that helped them plan vacations in Europe on $5 and $10 dollars a day. But the 21st century may have its own version: the European Backpacker Index 2012, an online listing in its second year that rates?40 major European cities by price.
Released earlier his week, the new 2012 listing rates Sofia, Krakow and Budapest as the cheapest major tourist cities in Europe, while Zurich, Oslo and Stockholm are rated as the most expensive.
?At least right now, Europe is a little bit cheaper than the last few years,? for Americans, said Roger Wade, who researched and complied the list. With a strong U.S. dollar and favorable exchange rates, budget travelers can save even more on their next European trip.
Wade is founder and editor-in-chief of Price of Travel, a website and database of travel costs launched in 2010 to help travelers compare typical expenses in more than 110 cities around the world to ascertain the best values.
Wade began the site because he couldn't find any comprehensive resource that rated cities based on affordability. ?Websites and books tend to not list prices because they fear they will be out of date soon,? and will be a burden to update, said Wade, who insisted the list is not?just for?college-age students and 20-somethings.?
?I?m always looking for value,? said Wade, who is 47 years old and has been traveling for the last two years, and spoke to?msnbc.com in a phone interview from Kas, Turkey. The same amount of money for a three-night stay at a higher-end hotel could cover two weeks at a lower-cost hotel or hostel. ?That?s what I?m going to do every time,? Wade said. The trade-off is worth it, he said. If you go cheaper, you can go for longer.
The list is not meant to discourage travel to certain cities, but to help figure out which cities to hurry through or linger in. Based on this year?s list, visitors could spend five times longer in Sofia, Bulgaria than in Zurich, Switzerland. The Daily Backpacker Index daily rate for Sofia is $23.71 a day; for Zurich, it?s $118.78 a day.
(This list will be updated when currencies fluctuate, the site states, but the most current information will always be on the city-specific pages; links are at the bottom of each city listing.)
Any surprises on this year?s list?
?Poland in particular seems to be gaining in popularity, especially Krakow, which has become a hotspot,? Wade said.
Ratings are based on average costs for accommodations, public transportation, attractions, food and drink in each city.? ?It?s quite scientific,? Wade said. ?Most are exact prices, except for food, which can be variable.? Those estimates are based on ?the cheapest meal you can get.?
Here are the detailed criteria:?
Are lists like the European Backpacker good predictors?
For Americans, it?s a great time to travel to Europe,?said Reena Aggarwal, professor of finance and business administration at Georgetown University. ?I think the dollar will continue to be strong for the next few months, and tourists should take advantage of the opportunity.?
Aggarwal said she did not expect the exchange rates to change markedly anytime soon, but?other factors should also be considered when planning an international trip.
?Obviously it is not all about dollars,? said Aggarwal, as things like safety are also important. But lists like the European Backpacker Index, which help travelers have a better understanding of comparative costs, ?are a good starting point.?
For budget-minded travelers, a critical factor will also be the price of airfare and availability of low-fare seats between the United States and Europe, said Henry H. Harteveldt, a travel industry analyst and co-founder of the Atmosphere Research Group, a market research company.
?We're seeing some expansion of budget airlines entering the U.S.,? Harteveldt said. ?XL Airways of France just announced it will add summer season Paris-San Francisco flights, and carriers like Air Europa and Air Berlin tend to up frequencies and capacity in the peak summer season. Air France, however, has announced it will suspend flights between Paris and Newark, to focus instead on its service in/out of JFK.? ?

COMMENTARY | Mitt Romney, while campaigning in New Hampshire, called President Barack Obama a "crony capitalist" for trying to manipulate economic forces he does not understand, according to the Washington Times.
If the phrase seemed familiar, it should. None other than former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has been inveighing against crony capitalism for months, even since a speech in Iowa in early September according to the Wall Street Journal. At that time Romney had made the factually true but politically risky suggestion that corporations are "people too," which they are for legal purposes.
If it seems strange that Romney, who boasts of his corporate financial acumen, has suddenly taken up a populist cause against too much government interference in business, it should not. Palin has gotten a lot of traction in attacking the Obama administration for scandals like Solyndra. Romney, who has been described as a human weather vane, has gotten the message and has followed suit.
Will it work? It can, unless someone discovers that Bain Capital, the company of which Romney was in change for so long, was the beneficiary of government largess.
Romney's joining the charge against crony capitalism not only demonstrates the potency of the issue, but also the outsized influence of Palin, former office holder, former national candidate, and private citizen. While Romney did not acknowledge the inspiration for his charge, he did not have to. It is unlikely he would have taken up the issue to start with had Palin not raised it and found that it had resonance.
If Romney somehow wins the nomination, he will have to unite the Republican Party, which is still dubious of his conservative credentials, by going right in selecting his running mate. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida is on everyone's short list as he is young, southern, and Hispanic. Romney could choose one of the right wing alternatives to him in the Republican field. Santorum would be the best fit, though a Romney/Santorum ticket would lack regional balance.
And then there is the Lady from Wasilla.
Palin has much to recommend her as a running mate for a moderate, just as she did in 2008 when McCain picked her. She is young, telegenic, smart, and politically savvy. Conservatives will find the pick appealing. And, perversely, she is hated by all the right people, which will be a plus. A Romney/Palin ticket would be a winner.

The boss asked me to look into a crystal ball and predict what will happen with Utah, BYU and Utah State football in 2012. My immediate response: ?What ? am I Madame Zelda??
Actually, I knew a Madame Zelda ? actually, it was Donna ? once, a trippy old lady who lived down the street from my family when I was a kid. She was some kind of mystical, soothsaying, palm-reading, star-gazing, fortune-telling clairvoyant who was bankrolled by a wealthy husband who pretty much ignored everything she said.
It was believed that Donna got more than half her predictions right, and I was never completely clear on where the Mendoza Line of Legitimacy was for psychic-spiritualist types who foretold the future. I did know that she gave out two full-sized Snickers/Three Musketeer bars at Halloween and had to respect the woman for that. If memory serves, she got the Kennedy assassination right, but missed on the start date for the outbreak of World War III, which she had pegged for the spring of 1975.
As I think about it now, batting better than .500 sounds pretty darn good.
In August, I predicted that BYU would go 9-3 in the 2011 regular season, that Utah would finish at 8-4 (nobody could have seen that Colorado loss coming), and that Utah State would qualify for a bowl game.
Not bad.
I also predicted that Jake Heaps would have a monster year ? and maybe he did, depending on how you define the word monstrous. I?ve a feeling we?re not in Kansas anymore. ? errrr, never mind.
Anyway, reception for the fall of 2012 on my new iCrystal Ball 4500 Razor is coming in loud and clear. Here?s what?s on deck for the coming season ?

What matters most ? all three of those schools are going to continue their upward climb.
Here?s the thing about Kyle Whittingham, Bronco Mendenhall and Gary Andersen, they have their programs headed in a positive direction and there?s no reason to believe that will change next season. None of those teams will be great, but they will be good enough for fans around here to feel OK about what?s going on.
The Utes got their baptism into the Pac-12 and figured out, the hard way, what the ground rules are.
Rule No. 1 ?they can?t take weeks off.
The early losses to USC, Washington, Arizona State and Cal set down the competitive parameters for the Utes, but did not rob them of their confidence or willingness to work.
They fought back against some of the league?s lesser teams before dropping that exploding egg at home against Colorado, a team to which they had no business losing. It cost them their chance at the title game, but it taught them that every team in the Pac-12, no matter how seemingly harmless, has enough athletes to be dangerous.
One of the trademarks of Whittingham?s teams is their no-quit attitude, and that was clearly on display in the Sun Bowl, when Jon Hays led the Utes back to victory against Georgia Tech after falling behind by two touchdowns in the second half. That kind of fight emanates from the head coach, and it?s not likely to disappear anytime soon.
Utah will battle again next year, and with more quarterback options in the tank, and John White in the backfield, and Kalani Sitake running the defense, there?s no reason to believe the Utes will suffer any letdown.
